The awarding of the Special Prize at the “2006 1st European Guitar Awards” to “Dirks und Wirtz” saw them become a hot tip in musical circles. Ratings in the music press for their 2007 debut “Danza non Danza” (Classic Concert Records) ranged from good to outstanding. Appearances in numerous TV- and radio shows has made the duo one of the most present duos in Germany. Their new CD will be released in Feb 2011.

The “Kalkan” duo - Reentko Dirks and Erkin Cavus - have received international awards for their music for the award-winning documentary “Dreigestirn der Moderne”.
Cavus works in his cultural homeland of Turkey with some of its most noted orchestras and artists, such as the Bursa Symphony Orchestra and guitar icon Erikan Ogur. Furthermore, he is one of the most outstanding players of the fretless guitar - an instrument he also plays in the duo.
The debut CD “Planet Kalkan” came out in 2009 (Acoustic Music).
